Akilah Gray-Brooks

I am Akilah Gray-Brooks an Education and Community Engagement Professional. I am passionate about education, community service, and creating meaningful opportunities to help others. One of my greatest strengths is stepping into leadership roles when needed and ensuring that the organizations I work with operate efficiently and effectively.

I have had the privilege of serving with two nonprofit organizations, Hoodies4Healing and Stable Stockings, helping provide food, toiletries, and other essential resources to individuals and families in need. My commitment to service began by preparing and distributing warm, home-cooked meals to members of the homeless community. With the support of dedicated volunteers and community partnerships, those efforts grew to serve more than 200 people. Through these experiences, I learned that while a vision may begin with one person, it is teamwork that transforms that vision into lasting impact.

After earning my Bachelor’s degree in Radio, Television, and Film from Texas Southern University, I began my professional career at Horace Mann as a Producer and Social Media Coordinator. I later transitioned into education, working as a Teacher Assistant at multiple childcare centers. These roles strengthened my communication skills, taught me to thrive in fast-paced environments, reinforced the importance of emergency preparedness, and enhanced my ability to manage multiple responsibilities while supporting the needs of students, families, and colleagues.

My experiences in nonprofit service, education, and communications have equipped me with problem-solving, and relationship-building skills. As I pursue my MBA at Texas A&M University, I look forward to expanding my knowledge in leadership, project management, and organizational strategy. I am excited to bring my dedication to service, collaborative mindset, and commitment to excellence to an organization where I can continue making a positive impact while growing both personally and professionally.
