Howdy! My name is Andrew Acosta-Worley and I am currently working towards my MBA at the Mays Business School of Texas A&M. I have an undergraduate degree in History & Science from Harvard College where I somehow managed to convince them that Economics should count as history. The scientific half of my brain specialized in computer science and this combination has positioned me at the intersection of technical skill and analytical decision making. After my undergraduate studies, I worked on multiple system implementations including: network security systems, enterprise resource planning systems, and warehouse management systems.

This is not to say that I am limited to systems. My role as Senior Buyer at South American Restaurants Corporation threw me into the lovely and chaotic battle of supply-chain and logistics. For a puzzle-lover such as myself, this role introduced me to an ideal industry riddled with problems to solve all around. I was responsible for demand planning and procurement for over 200 business locations spanning 5 QSR brands in Puerto Rico. While I loved it, our promotional calendar also never gave me a break and had me running to source ingredients from all around the world.

As I mentioned previously, my value lies in being able to bridge the gap between technical innovation and the ability to communicate and learn from colleagues in any department. The MBA I am pursuing is further solidifying this foundation while also supplementing my ability to make informed decisions. I manage to do this by constantly leveraging new programming languages, dashboarding tools, and AI innovations because – let’s face it – we are never done learning.

As someone who also grew up in a family-owned restaurant, I have come to realize that I will never escape my love for food. I believe it brings people together, and my personal mission is to do whatever I can to make meals affordable enough to share with your neighbors. I have seen how a single dollar price change can greatly impact food sales volume, which is a lovely thought when you’re offering a discount and not such an attractive reality when you have to increase prices. Every member of the community counts, every coworker counts, and I want to play my role in making every penny count while feeding those around me. I hope we can continue this conversation and see what opportunities await us both. Thank you!
