Clay Watson

Howdy, I’m Clay Watson! I’ve always had a passion for creative problem solving, and whether it was running system simulations, digging into mountains of excel data to uncover and understand trends, or rallying a team together to meet a tough deadline, Industrial & Systems engineering always gave me opportunities to put my analytical and problem solving skills to the test. Now, moving on from undergrad, I’m looking forward to continuing my education at Texas A&M through the Engineering MBA program at Mays Business School, where I hope to blend my love of problem solving and analytical thinking with the business acumen needed to make a real and meaningful impact on companies.

During my internship at US Capital Advisors, I began to take a real interest in the business world and which leadership roles I could take on if I had a thorough understanding of business concepts to blend with my preexisting engineering skills. I hope to play a central role in the strategic planning and execution of innovative business solutions, so it’s important to have a range of knowledge regarding both the technical and financial impacts of what a recommendation might bring. Being able to convey technical knowledge to businessmen and business acumen to engineers in a way that is clear, concise, and beneficial to whoever I’m speaking with is a critical part of management. My strong interpersonal skills coupled with my previous experiences and critical thinking skills should allow me to formulate practical and effective solutions to challenging problems and present them in a comprehensible manner to coworkers and clients alike.

My ultimate goal is to be able to communicate with and lead an entire company in a clear direction, so I’m excited for this program to help elevate my soft skills and guide me to becoming a stronger and more knowledgeable business leader.
