Howdy, my name is Ethan Hammond, I am an Engineering MBA student at Texas A&M University. I recently graduated with a degree in Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering, and I am eager to merge my technical skills with knowledge of the business world in hopes of maximizing my career impact and developing my skills as a leader.
In the past 4 years, I have had 3 internships with 2 different companies, as well as a contracting role as an automation engineer this most recent summer. My 3 previous experiences we with an international pharmaceuticals manufacturer known as AstraZeneca, where I worked at the Lokelma Supply Site (LSS) and was able to apply much of my technical knowledge to the various manufacturing systems used to create the drug product. I pride myself as a life-long learner that is always eager to dive into new areas and challenge myself. I focus on being adaptable and teachable through all aspects of my life, and this has served me well in my professional experience. These qualities allowed me to excel during my internships and cohesively present various process improvements to the senior leaders of the LSS. This resulted in me being the only intern to be invited back to the site 2 more times in the following summers, where I was able to expand my impact into other areas with different teams. One instance of reducing waste would be the query I created that catalogues all the batch information through each step of the production process showing relevant data that needs to be analyzed on a
weekly basis for OEE calculations. In the past, this took the team around 6 hours per week since it involved manually reading physical batch records, and my query cut this time down to a mere 30 minutes.
I pride myself on being competitive in nature, but primarily with myself as opposed to others. I always strive to improve beyond where I was yesterday, making use of my analytical and strategic strengths. I do not care for being a bystander in my professional or personal life. Significance in my impact and presence is integral to my personality, and I have proven that I can make a positive impact in various environments. Part of being a life-long learner is being open to the perspectives of others, regardless of how different their path through life has been than mine, and having this outlook has paid off by growing my strengths and mitigating my weaknesses. Improving anything is a mindset, and I cannot wait to help that become a reality together.
