Howdy! My name is Lance Andruss, and I’ve spent my entire life learning how to be an effective leader. I played organized sports from the age of five through my high school graduation, during which I learned how to work with and motivate others to accomplish a common goal. I served as the leader of my Boy Scout troop on my way to becoming an Eagle Scout, where I learned how to organize and manage teams. Finally, I was elected as the recruitment chairman of my fraternity, where I learned how to manage resources to define and achieve strategic goals and direct a team within a more complex organization. Finally, I completed systems engineering internships at Duffy Engineering, a mom-and-pop structural engineering firm, and Sierra Nevada Corporation, where I learned how to optimize systems and processes to increase productivity and improve project outcomes. These experiences shaped my MO as an individual and leader: outcomes will take care of themselves if efficient processes are developed with the end goal in mind.

During my undergraduate education in aerospace engineering at Texas A&M, I gained technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to complement my extracurricular experiences. Studying aerospace engineering made me a curious and effective learner, and I developed interests in aerospace propulsion, dynamics and controls, and systems engineering. I became proficient in tools including Python and Excel for data analysis and process automation, SolidWorks and AutoCAD for modeling, and Fortran for scientific computing. Now, in my MBA program at Texas A&M, I am learning important business fundamentals that will allow me to understand and make business decisions, making me an asset for any engineering team and organization I am involved with. I look forward to joining an organization where I can contribute to innovative aerospace technology as a young engineer and transition into strategic business roles later in my career.
