Howdy! My name is Mitchell Bonner. I love to learn about new things, I love getting to know new people, and I love to combine those relationships and insights to improve people’s lives. I want to spend my life working to improve healthcare quality and access by connecting the principles of medicine, business, and technical innovation. This means, I want to create solutions that are actually impactful and effective. I have experience in all of these key areas, and I tie them together with my passion for asking questions and seeking deep understanding. I want to genuinely grasp what motivates and limits unique individuals, while at the same time grasping the technologies, systems, and structures that shape our healthcare landscape. I believe these things can be leveraged to improve lives, especially those who have traditionally fallen through the cracks.
I’ve gained technical skills and surveyed the full range of medical treatment over the last few years while I earned a degree in biomedical engineering. I have worked for an engineering firm helping develop and test novel medical devices, I designed a chest tube placement assist device currently under a provisional patent as a team with the support of a trauma surgeon, I’ve published research regarding better ways to treat infections, and I’ve shadowed many doctors. I’ve also been able to exercise my leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills through extensive work at the Texas A&M Wesley Foundation, which is the college ministry of the United Methodist Church. It’s there where I’ve led a student council to materialize their different great ideas, collaborated with and presented directly to different boards and committees, and spent many hours outside of any professional pursuits supporting students emotionally, spiritually, and professionally. Additionally, the MBA I am currently pursuing has already begun to enable me to more confidently analyze complex situations and understand external factors that influence the medical field for better or worse.
I want to use my abilities and experiences to improve lives by bettering healthcare, expanding access, and caring for people as unique individuals worth loving and serving alongside others who want to do the same. I'd love to talk about how we can work to pursue that future together!
