Howdy, I’m Nicholas, and I want to be a professional problem solver. I started solving problems all the way back in kindergarten, when I first deduced that one plus one equals two. Since then, I’ve sought out environments and opportunities where I can leverage my critical thinking skills to solve complex, real-world problems. This desire to further develop my problem-solving skills motivated me to pursue my bachelor’s in electrical engineering at Texas A&M University and join the Corps of Cadets. This combination of rigorous coursework and a military school experience was the perfect fit for me. On an average day in undergrad, I would spend 4 to 5 hours studying and completing homework. After that, I would be working with my friends and colleagues to develop unit training plans, make financial decisions, and coach and mentor underclassmen. Furthermore, being a member of the Corps gave me the unique opportunity to work with horses, which was an incredible experience that taught me communication skills, quick decision-making and teamwork.
During my undergrad, I interned in the MEP Consulting industry. During these internships, I worked as an electrical designer: creating lighting and power distribution plans for a variety of construction projects. The uniqueness and depth of each project made the design work incredibly fulfilling, as I was constantly learning and being challenged with each new project. Currently, I’m pursuing my MBA at Texas A&M’s Mays School of Business where I hope to further refine my leadership skills and develop business acumen. Upon graduation, I hope to return to the MEP Consulting industry, become a professional engineer and ultimately leverage the technical skills, leadership skills and business knowledge I’ve gained to start my own engineering consulting firm. I’m always excited to connect with other professionals inside and outside of the engineering consulting world and see how I can help to solve your engineering problems!
