Howdy! My name is Robbie Jeng. At my core, I am driven to simplify and optimize processes. If there is a more efficient way to do something, I always believe that it is worth the time and effort to make it happen. I was able to apply this to my past internship, where I designed a new process for tracking and analyzing well failures. After these changes, the recorded data was more accurate and could be analyzed using the Power BI dashboard I created, which is referenced weekly in production meetings. For reference, the company was quoted ~$50k per year for a well failure tracking software with similar capabilities but I was able to fill this need. I was also tasked with updating injection rates for our gas lift wells but took this a step further when I created critical gas rate calculator that takes live well conditions and calculates the theoretically optimal injection rate. This calculator can be applied to all the gas lift wells in the company in a few simple steps.
Excellence is something I highly value, and I bring it into every aspect of my life. Some notable accomplishments during college have been reducing sound production costs for our fraternity philanthropy from $38k to $25k, winning the men’s competitive flag football intramural championship, and growing a personal $100 investment into a healthy five-figure return in just one year. Everything I pursue, I want to be marked by excellence.
Right now, I am looking for opportunities in the energy industry. I originally chose mechanical engineering because of the diverse opportunities but after spending a summer in Midland working for a Christian camp called TBarM, I realized that I wanted to pursue upstream oil and gas. Meeting industry leaders like Tim Dunn, CEO of Crownquest, and seeing them give their time and resources to our camp, inspires me to work hard with the goal of giving back to my community. After gaining experience in the operations side of the energy industry, I aim to transition into PE, where I can apply my engineering background to evaluate investments and guide company direction.
