Howdy! My name is Samantha Dao, but you can call me Sam. I am a native Texan and am local to
the Houston area growing up in Spring, TX. I spent my first two years of undergrad at UT Austin
before transferring to Texas A&M, which was definitely the right decision for myself. After
earning my degree in Industrial Distribution (ID) I decided to pursue a one-year MBA program
and extend my stay at A&M. Throughout my time in college I have held various roles both on and
off campus, most recently working as a student worker and now graduate assistant teacher for
the ID department, a program that I have a strong passion for.
My professional experiences include my summer spent as a supply chain intern for Oxy’s
chemical subsidiary (OxyChem) in Dallas where I worked on projects benefitting the commercial
rail and demand chain planning groups. After developing various skills during my time there and
experiencing exposure to SAP, dealing with third parties in a corporate setting, and Excel VBA, I
took my corporate knowledge back to my hometown. This past summer I worked in the
Marketing (Sales & Supply) function at Phillips 66 at their Houston headquarters. During this
project based internship I worked on software development by constructing a dashboard meant
to be a tool in calculating brand value proposition for sales representatives. Highlights included
being mentored by successful leaders and learning how to work in highly professional settings.
After working these jobs I have realized my passion for the energy industry and know that
working in it and in Texas is something I desire for my future. I grew up around the energy
industry and am familiar with its volatility. I am aware of the way the industry operates and am
still wanting to build a career within it.
Outside of work, I have been heavily involved in children’s ministry holding roles working with
kids since I was in high school. I have volunteered for the past two years at Save Our Streets in
Bryan and have become a more compassionate and humble person because of it. I am
passionate about knowing the people around me well to create a positive working environment. I
am deeply rooted in my beliefs and am a more driven, caring, and goal-oriented person because
of them.
