I am a very determined medical school reject. During the year following my undergraduate studies in Biomedical Engineering at Texas A&M, I planned to attend medical school at EnMed, taking on extra coursework and surviving the MCAT twice. However, after my interview, I realized that my true excitement was in the engineering side of things rather than the medical. Time spent at my family's medical practice and speaking with healthcare stakeholders confirmed that, while I have a deep passion for serving patients, my strengths lie in business and STEM. Helping implement pricing strategies and launch a new service further solidified this realization.
My foundations for this realization began during my time as a pre-med and engineering student, co-founding and growing an organization to support men struggling with mental health, which required me to be emotionally present at all hours. This experience helped me develop a deeper empathy and understanding of the personal struggles people face. Later, I led a cross-functional team in developing a monitoring device for vitals, working with individuals from different backgrounds and learning important lessons in communication, teamwork, and leadership.
Recognizing that my passion outpaced my experience, I decided to join the MBA/MEng program at Texas A&M to round out my abilities in both STEM and business. This is something I plan to continue with Aggies in Business, delivering value to stakeholders through collaboration, respect, and excellence. I am excited to bring these experiences and values into a company that shares the same commitment to innovation and delivering meaningful impact to its stakeholders.
