Ryan Morris

Growing up the child of Irish immigrants, I was always taught the value of selfless service and hard work. I started working in country clubs at 14 and I continued to work part time while getting my International Business degree from The College of Charleston. After graduation, I jumped back into the hospitality industry, working in operations management.
During these past four years, I’ve developed many valuable skills. I’ve managed teams of up to 10 people at a time, I’ve conducted interviews and made hiring decisions. I’ve overseen large scale events with over 200 attendants, generating up to $300,000 over 2 to 3 days. I’ve coordinated disaster relief efforts that saved the company roughly $250,000 in further damage to facilities. I oversaw retail operations and analyzed the buying habits of our clientele to optimize seasonal apparel offerings.
At Mays, we talk a lot about relationship building, but many people overlook the effort and commitment that it really requires. In an industry like hospitality, you become an important part of the lives of your clients, and in turn, they become an important part of yours.
